Home sweet HOME
Finally home!!! I had my surgery this morning at 8am and although I was nervous, it went surprisingly well! I don't even remember going into the surgery room, she gave me the drugs and I was out! I woke up about 20 min after they took me into the recovery room and asked where I was. Then about ten minutes later they took me back to my original room where my parents were waiting on me with some FOOD! lol I may have had surgery but I sure didn't lose my appetite. I am recovering pretty well as long as I have my medicine. My back is a little sore which they said is normal and that I will have some spasms in my muscles just after having surgery and everything irritated them. Just glad that is all over! The stent that they put in me will be taken out through an outpatient procedure on Thursday. I will be staying in Celina/Muncie area until Feb. 11 because of check ups and such that will have to happen with my family doctor after they remove the stent. Thank you to everyone who sent encouragement and prayers to both Brent and I, we are extremely grateful that we both have such good family support systems to lean on! Thanks everyone! <3

Update (since arriving in Dayton) 1.28.12
My mom and I arrived here in Dayton yesterday afternoon (friday) and are trying not to get to comfortable, I really just wanna go home!! A few hours after we arrived the doctor on the floor came in and got the scoop on my story and talked to us a little bit about her thoughts on what could have caused the high blood pressure/heart palpitations. She seemed to think that it was just the high levels of fluids that I had received in the past days coming into the hospital and explained the reasons why something like this could happen, nice to have an explanation finally!! She also said that last night she would clear my heart for surgery with the urologist, after seeing me and all the records from the other hospital, she was confident that with as young as I am and as healthy as I USUALLY am, that I would be perfectly fine for surgery. We waited all night to see the urologist about surgery, but sadly, he never came in before he left the hospital. We were still hoping that if he came in early enough this morning I would get my surgery today, no such luck there either. We were told this morning that he was in surgery and would be in to see us after surgery was finished. We are PATIENTLY (haha) waiting and trying to entertain ourselves, I'm hoping to get my mom hooked on pinterest before the night is over! lol Glad to have my mom here, we are getting so much quality time together and I love it!! Nice to spend time with just her! :) Thanks for all the prayers and I will update once we see the urologist! Have a great Saturday everyone!

Life as we know it!
This blog is just temporary for friends who are wondering about the situation Brent and I have been going through this last week, I feel like this is the easiest way to keep people updated by keeping all the emails and messages, calls & texts to minimum! Please feel free to contact me or Brent if you have other questions about all of this but this is a way to get the information out to many of our friends and family who have been so kind to check up on us! I hope this is better for you guys and will try to update as I am able.
Last Thursday (Jan. 19):
I started with pain in my back and abdominal area, got ahold of my mom (Brent was at school), and took some advil, this didn't help. The pain and vomiting continued and worsened over the course of three hours until Brent came home. We went to Dr. Holness (St Kitts) and he diagnosed this as a muscle spasm and gave me Codeine, muscle spasm medication, and nausea medicine. They then sent me home and I was off and on with all of these symptoms until Saturday (Jan. 21) when since nothing had changed, we went back to the doctor for further investigation. Once going back to Dr. Holness, he wanted to do an ultrasound on my kidneys because of the pain location and persistence. With an ultrasound, they made the decision that it was pyelonephritis (kidney infection), I was then treated with Cipro (antibiotic, pain medicine, and nausea). All of these symptoms continued on until Wed. (Jan 25), lessening when i took the medicine, but masking the real issue. I called my mom Wednesday morning and she said she was bringing me home. We bought my plane ticket at 8am and I was on the flight to St. Maarten by noon, final destination being Dayton, Ohio where my family would pick me up to be taken to the ER. When I got off of my last flight, I was too dehydrated and weak to even walk off the plane so they took me by wheelchair to meet my mom. By the time I got to the hospital I was very weak and dehydrated so the first thing they did was get my fluids going so they could take care of that. I was then taken to get a CT scan of my kidney and they determined that I had a 4mm kidney stone in the ureter, as an incidental finding with CT of abdomen they found a nodule on the base of my R lung. It has not been determined 100% for sure the findings on it but they are pretty confident since I am not a smoker and not over 60 that it is benign. I will have to continue to be monitored by CT scan when I come back home in May and August and every few months for the next 18 months. As for my kidney stone they have continued to push fluids in me to the point last night I had to be given a diueretic, Lasix to get rid of extra fluid, about an hour later I started feeling heart palpitations and as I was walking to the bathroom I started to collapse, my mom caught me and basically drug me to the bathroom, after getting me back in bed they took my blood pressure it was 164/103, my pulse was 128, they did EKG, it was normal and drew more blood from me, that was all normal. They then decided to put me on a heart monitor through the night, I rested peacefully except for waking up to get pain shots when needed. When I woke up this morning the nurse heard crackles in my lung and I had more chest pressure, they repeated EKG, it was normal, then did an Echo(ultrasound of my heart), it was normal. They gave me more Lasix stopped the IV at that point because I was "overflowing". The heart dr came in and said I could be discharged to head to Dayton for my 12:00 appt. As I was getting ready to leave the nurse then came back in and said they noted my heart rate was back up to 140, so they then put things to a halt. They decided to then put a holter monitor on me for 24 hours, cancelled my appt in Dayton because the urologist will not do surgery to get the kidney stone out until my heart is cleared. After discussing it, the nurse called the surgeon and they decided to transport me to Dayton. Because I am on a heart monitor I have to be transported by squad. (FYI-all this time they have not let me eat either because they don't know what tests will be done, I was getting very grouchy too because I was sooooooooooo hungry). The surgeon has gone above and beyond to coordinate things. He did his training in Dayton so he has his connections that he has made. He has been wonderful. I am waiting now to be transported to Southview Dayton Hospital. Thanks for prayers and we will try and update when possible!
